תמים תהיה עם ד’ אלהיך
tamim tih’yeh hashem eloheikha
be whole-hearted with Hashem your Gd

כידוע זיינען די תרי”ג מצוות אנטקעגען די רמ”ח אברים ושס”ה גידים פון מענשען. אז א מענש פעהלט אן אבר, איז ער א בעל־מום, א חסר, א קאליקע. פּונקט אזוי איז א מענש א חסר אויב ער איז ניט מקיים די תרי”ג מצוות, וואָרענט דארום די תורה „תמים תהיה“ אזוי ווי דו ווילסט אוודאי זײַן א גאנצער געזונטער מענש אויפ אלע אברים — אזוי זאָלסטו שטרעבען צו זײַן א „תמים תהיה עם ד’ אלהיך“ מקיים צו זײַן אלע תרי”ג מצוות. (ר’ אברהמ’עלע אייגער)
As is well-known, the 613 mitzvos correspond to the 248 organs and the 365 sinews of a person. When a person lacks a limb, he is deformed, deficient, a cripple. Likewise, a person is deficient when he doesn’t keep the 613 mitzvos, therefore, the Torah warns, “be whole-hearted” as you would certainly want to be completely healthy in all of the organs — so should you strive to be “whole-hearted with Hashem your Gd,” keeping all 613 mitzvos. שֹׁפְטִים וְשֹׁטְרִים תִּתֶּן לְךָ בְּכָל שְׁעָרֶיךָ
shoftim v’shot’rim titein l’cha b’kol sh’arecha
Appoint yourselves judges and police in all your cities.
(D’varim 16:18)
שופטים — מאך דײַן חשבון הבפש און זײַ דו אליין דײַן אייגענער שופט און אויב דו געפינסט אז דו האסט געטאן זאכער שלא כהוגן, „ושוטרים תתן לך“ זאלסטו אליין זײַן דער שוטר. באשטראף דיך אליין ויי דו וואלסט באשטראפט אן אנדערען פאר דיזעלבער אונגערעכטע און שלעכטע מעשים. (משמרת איתמר)
Police — make your cheshbon nefesh (soul-accounting) and be your own police; and if you find that you have done something inappropriate, “v’shot’rim titein l’cha” (appoint yourselves police) you yourself should be the police. Punish yourself just as you would punish another for the same unjust and bad deeds. (Mishmeret Itamar)
It is easier than easy to make justifications for our infractions especially if no one is looking and no one will ever know. But it’s not true that no one knows.

This one is a little tricky, but worth it. Bear with me.
לשחט אותה לפניו
l’shochet otah l’fanav
and slaughter her in front of him
(Numbers 19:3)
„זר שוחט ואלעזר רואה.“ (רש”י) אויב איינער איז א זר, אן אָפּגעפרעמדטער פון אידענטום, נאָר ביי א געלענגענהייט איז ער זיך מקריב, מוסר־נפש פאר זיין אמונה אונ פאלק — „אל־עזר רואה“ זעהט דאָס דער רבש”ע זון איז מקבל באהבה ווי א צדיק.

“Zar shochet v’elezar ro’eh,” (The stranger shechts -slaughters- and Elezar observes). —Rashi. If one is a stranger, [i.e.] an estranger from Jewish life (lit. “yiddendom”) then only by the opportunity of musar-nefesh can he draw himself close to his faith and to his people. “El-ezar ro’eh” (the G-d of help observes), the Ribono Shel Oylam (Master of the Universe) sees this (the estranger’s efforts in Musar) and receives him in love like a tzadik (righteous person/saint).

This teaching comes to us from the Rebbe of Lublin.
אשר אין בה מום
asher ain bah mum
… on which there is no blemish …
(Numbers 19:2)
דער מענש וואס באטראכט זיך אז ער איז בתכלית השלימות, א מענש מיט בלויז מעלות, איז דאס אליין א סימן, „אשר לא עלה עליה עול“ — אז אויף אים ניט אויפגעגאנגען קיין עול מלכות שמים, ווייל ווענ דער מענש וואָלט באזעסען דעם עול מלכות שמים וואָלט ער געוואוסט אז עס איז ניטא קיין מענש, וואס זאל זיין בתכלית השלימות.
[Concerning] the person who considers himself to be absolutely perfect, a person with only virtues, this in itself is a sign [of] “asher lo-’alah aleih ol” (“on which no yoke has ever come”) — that, upon him has never come any Ol Malchut Shamayim (Yoke of Heaven), for if the person possessed the Yoke of Heaven, he would know that no person can ever be absolutely perfect.

Here’s a little gem from the Yid HaKadosh:
ויקח — אויב א מענש פארנעמט זיך נאָכצוגעבען אלע תאוות און הנאות הגוף, קֶרָח, ווערט ער אָפּגעפרוירען און פארקעלטערט פון קכושה און רוחניות
Vayikach (took) — If a man takes himself to (the place of) giving in to all his desires and physical pleasures, ice (kerech). He will be frostbitten and will turn from holiness and spirituality.
The master is making a pun here, for the word kerech, ice, has the same spelling in Hebrew as the name Korach.
Also, whereas we might usually say “if a man allows himself to give in to” but here, the master says “takes himself to”
in order to play off vayikach, took.
