Moshe’s Death – part 16a

by Digital Maggid

Chapter Forty-One

The Death of Moshe Rabeinu

part 16

Moshe Sees the Destruction of the Temple

Not only did Hashem show Moshe the days of fire and intensification, but also the days of grief and trouble that were to come for the Jews in the era of the destruction of the Temple. Suddenly, Moshe saw thick clouds covering the sky and a wind storm blew across the mountain and broke out in the tree tops.  Loud noises shook the earth and turned it into a wasteland. Heavy rains fell and all the wells were filled with refuse and mud.  The sun above did not shine and the birds were not heard. And now, Moshe sees a great and powerful people coming into the Land of Israel with an ear-splitting sound. A people without mercy, whose soldiers are brutal as wild animals, and they seize the city of Jerusalem and the Jews within it die of hunger and weakness.  The Jewish people fall dead to the ground and a foul stench arises from their bodies, for there is no one left to bury them. And a massive people breaks into the city, whose wall has been broken down. With a powerful noise the enemy attacks, seizing the Temple and taking the few remaining Jews captive.  The voices of the brutal people who conquer and burn the Temple mix in with the wailing, crying voices of the people of Israel. At the end of the battle, in which many of the Jews were killed, the people burn Gd’s house and take with them as prisoners the few Jews who had managed to escape.

Sadigura on Ha’azinu

by Digital Maggid

ha’azinu hashamayim va’adabeirah
Listen, O heavens and I will speak
(D’varim 32:1)

The structure of this is a bit odd, but I beleive the master means to say:

The Torah and the prayers of the tzadik were received in heaven. “Adaberiah” (I will speak) — his speech was listened to on the earth. (R’ Avrohom Sadi-Gurer)

Rebbe Avrohom was the first rebbe of the Sadigura Hasidic Dynasty.
